MAH / GAR Settlement Architecture
Proposed components for representing, escrowing, converting, and settling many asset types within one coordinated protocol.
Two cooperating components
MAH — Multi-Asset Handler
Executes asset operations: transfers, escrow locks and releases, conversions, and atomic multi-leg settlement.
GAR — Global Asset Registry
A canonical registry of asset definitions, issuers, metadata, and cross-chain representations.
Illustrative
Settlement flow
- 1Asset resolved in GAR
- 2Escrow lock by MAH
- 3Conversion / matching (if multi-asset)
- 4Atomic commit or refund
- 5Registry and balances updated
Research areas
Escrow semantics
Lock, release, and timeout-refund rules that compose with XMSG acknowledgments.
Conversion
Coordinated exchange between asset types within a single atomic settlement.
Double-spend prevention
Registry-level guarantees that one asset cannot be settled twice across chains.
Registry integrity
Governed asset onboarding and verifiable metadata.
MAH and GAR are proposed components at the architecture-design stage. They do not currently hold, custody, or settle real assets.
